The Need for Charting

FAA Restrictions

The FAA tightly controls drone operation within a 5 mile radius of a Class B (i.e. Atlanta),  Class C (i.e. Jacksonville International), or Class D (i.e. St. Augustine) airport.

In addition, operation within a 5 mile radius of some Class E airports is likewise controlled if that airspace starts at surface level.

Authorization Request

If a given property maps to controlled airspace, Uphapee Drone can file an authorization request with the FAA. The FAA response time is typically 1 to 2 business days, but can take longer depending on volume.

The FAA usually approves a request unless the property is DIRECTLY underneath an approach/departure pattern

Charting Process

Uphapee Drone uses either the property address or actual GPS coordinates to determine if an authorization request is or is not needed.
